We provide outreachservices to all suburbs across Adelaide, meaning we can see your child at their schoolor childcarecentre or at your home. Additionally, we have bases in the North at UniHealth, Playfordand Yourtown, Elizabeth, and a city site at Pirie Street.
We also offer Family & Systemic based Therapy
Family therapy is a type of therapy that includes all or key members of the family (or the system), with the aim, of reducing distress and conflict within the family. By understanding each other’s experiences, the therapy helps to build on existing strengths to make useful changes in the family’s relationships. While traditionally family therapists often seek all family members (affected by the problem) in the room, that is not always possible or necessary, at ETSA we work with any family members that wish to attend.
Key reasons why families may decide to try family therapy:
- A major trauma or change to family life that impacts the whole family – i.e. traumatic loss of a family member.
- When a child is struggling with school, substance misuse, relationships or families are struggling to communicate.
- Divorce and change to family system – i.e. adoption, blended family, birth of a sibling etc.
- Domestic abuse.
- To reduces family conflict
Family Therapy is available online as well as in person.
There is a strong body of research to support family therapy as an effective intervention where a child or any family member had gained a diagnosis of OCD, ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression or an eating disorder.
We also provide couples therapy using the family and systemic model.
How we work
Expressive Therapy involves using creative activities in a therapeutic environment, with the support of a registered and trained professional. Your child does not need to have done these activities before, or have any particular skills or knowledge. Children often do enjoy Expressive Therapy sessions, even though they may be working through difficult issues. Although sessions may look like play, Expressive Therapists are registered psychotherapists, here to help resolve emotional distress and achieve optimal mental wellness, in fact most of our team have duel qualifications, for example in Social Work & Family Therapy or Psychotherapy & Play Therapy.
