Hello! I’m Jana and I launched ‘Kind Sleep Co’ early in 2022. We are based in beautiful Victor Harbor, South Australia, but are able to support clients virtually from anywhere in the world!
Why did you decide to go into business?
I wanted to start Kind Sleep Co because I strongly felt there needed to be something more for parents in my region of SA. I struggled with sleep deprivation when my babies were little, and wanted support but didn’t know where to turn, as there was no one locally to offer support in this area. Once my two were a little bit older (now ages 2 and 3), I wanted to study so that I could be that support for tired parents in my local community and beyond.
What has been your biggest inspiration?
My family is and always will be my biggest inspiration. Not only have I learned so much on my journey to becoming a certified sleep coach that I can use to support my own children’s sleep with, but I can now also be more in control of my time, so that I can spend more of it focussed on my beautiful family, especially while my kids are still little. They bring me so much joy!
What are you most proud of?
I am honestly so proud of myself for finding something I am truly passionate about, studying it and starting a business which is based on offering support. It has taken me a while to find the thing that would set me on fire; I always knew it had to be something that would support and champion others but I wasn’t sure how exactly that would look until I started Kind Sleep Co!
Do you have a fave place to spend summer/go to for coffee/ go to to relax/ go to for food?
Living in Victor Harbor, during summer I often feel like I am permanently on holidays! I adore my coastal city, and usually spend summer right here, at the beach. My favourite places to work/study/relax are Qahwa Cafe and Planted Coffee House and you’ll find me there several times a week!
What advice would you give other women wanting to start a business?
Find the thing you’re passionate about; starting a business is amazing, but can mean long hours in the early days. The hard work and long hours feel alright when you’re doing something that excites you and that you know will support someone else!
