Today we meet Italian Travel guru Emily Tassone from Avanti Italy. Emily has been creating phenomenal customised experiences for those looking to experience all the Amalfi Coast and Italy has to offer. She is unique in that because she has lived there (and married an Italian!) she has the inside scoop to create a cultural experience like no other (the pic above is actually from her apartment there!)! Meet Emily and her passion Avanti Italy….

* Tell us about your business, how long you have been operating and what you do..

Avanti Italy is a travel company established in 2011 specialising in travel to Italy.  I design tailored holiday experiences for those travelling to the Amalfi Coast and Italy.  It is independent travel for my guests with peace of mind that all is taken care/booked for them by someone with local knowledge.  I also offer 24 hour on-ground bi-lingual support whilst guests are travelling.  I also offer set packages, tours, honeymoons and event management services (for example birthday celebrations).

* Why did you decide to start a business?

I was born in Mildura, Victoria to Italian parents. After completing courses in Tourism and Event Management, working in the tourism industry for many years in Australia and travelling to Italy several times, I decided to combine my skills and passion for all things Italian and hence Avanti Italy was established. Plus I wanted to live and work in Italy and creating Avanti Italy enabled me to split my time between living on the stunning Amalfi Coast, Italy and Australia.

* The best piece of business advice you have received

Closing one door, forces you to make the next door work.

* what do you love about doing business in South Australia

I am still new to SA, but I know there are wonderful opportunities here to be part of a great community and to create partnerships to grow my business

* what has been your biggest success so far? Biggest challenge?

I have had so many wonderful guests but having run multiple successful tours with celebrity cook, Stefano de Pieri has been a highlight.  Consistent cash flow has been a challenge.

* Your favourite place to visit in SA (eg. Holiday destination, cafe, beach etc)

I love going for walks along Henley Beach, and day trips to visit wineries in  McLaren Vale.
