// Tell us a little about your business…

My business is called Soul Essence ~ Therapy & Life Coaching. I began my part-time business in April 2017 after completing Master Practitioner Training in NLP, Time Line Therapy®, Hypnotherapy and Coaching. In November 2018 I finished a Social Work degree.

After quitting my job in August 2019 I am now focussing on my business full time. I have rooms in Waikerie to see Riverland clients and in Nuriootpa to see Barossa and Adelaide clients.

// What do you love most about being in business?

The thing I love most about being in business is the flexibility. I now have time for me, my family and my grandchildren, my health and well-being and importantly my business.

I know it sounds odd that I have more time but I was trying to run a business as well as work a 40 hour week and study so I really do have more time now for the important things.

// Why did you decide to go into business?

April 2017, ANZAC Day to be exact. I had been planning on it since completing Master Practitioner in March 2017 and had lots in place already, so after attending the Dawn Service to remember my uncle I came home and launched my Facebook page.

I have known for a long time there was something I was meant to be doing so I kept following the synchronicities, listening to my heart and here I am.

// Share with us how life has changed since being in business…

I am stronger and more aware of my own “stuff”. I have experienced being the client during training sessions so have cleared a lot of my own emotional baggage and become a lot more aware of how language impacts on the world we create.

I also now get to spend more time with family, in my own community, networking, meeting people and connecting.

Also, my house and garden no longer look like an abandoned property!!

// Do you have a fave place to spend time, go to for coffee, go to to relax or go to for food?

Gosh so many to choose from in our amazing state but the one that comes to mind is Adelaide in Autumn, Fringe time, maybe an outdoor concert as well.

// What advice would you give other women wanting to start a business?

Network, network, network, pick people’s brains, make connections, join groups, go to meetings, get out into the community so that people know your face, your smile and personality, put videos online (I don’t really like doing it but people get to know you and are more likely to use your business), hand out business cards when people ask what you do.

Also have some form of financial security, even a small amount, it takes the focus off “How will I pay the bills?” and lets you focus on growing the business.

// Share with us a quote or mantra you live by…

If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.
