// Tell us a little about your business…

Hi. My name is Tiare and I am an Australian author residing in the desert mining town of Roxby Downs, SA.

I have recently written my first book, ‘SHE: A collection of you, me, her’, and have begun my publishing journey with The kind Press.

I have been writing/blogging for a few years and from that have organically birthed a beautiful coffee table book about the four transformative roles women experience throughout their lives.

// Why did you go into business?

Deciding to go into “business” is a hard term to envision as a writer. What am I selling? I ask myself. Me, I guess. Looking at myself as the business, as a writer/Author wanting to share my words, it’s a strange feeling. But here I am. I am a business. I am an author.

// What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of what I have been able to achieve as a fulltime mine site worker, mother of two, wife of one, part-time university student, and fitness enthusiast. I achieved writing a book, a book that will connect women. I’m really proud of that.

// What has been your biggest hurdle?

My biggest hurdle has been self-doubt (sound familiar?). In an age where it’s all selfies and self-love, I felt a bit behind the eightball. But I’ve had some amazing female inspiration along the way, including SA Woman Ayesha Michaels from @Smashguide and my mum who is a small business owner @rendezvousindayboro and so many more.

// Lets talk South Australia, What do you love most about doing business here?

My family and I are new to South Australia. Almost ten months old. In that time we have explored the spectacular Flinders Range at Kangaroo Island where I ran in the KI Marathon. We have stopped at all the local towns between Roxby and Adelaide as both my husband and I are BHP employees, often having to work away. We have big plans to travel the SA coastline over Christmas with our two small children and eat our weight in Coffin Bay Oysters.

// Share with us a quote or mantra you live by…

Being that I am so new to being a “business” and am still navigating what it means to be a published author with a big year ahead of me with my first publication, I remind myself often of this quote: “Don’t be made, make yourself”.

I look forward to connecting with likeminded women on their own empowering journey’s.
