Kristy Robertshaw says SA Woman is a wonderful support for women in business across the state.

Last year’s ‘New Woman on the Block’ Award winner – who runs indoor plants and homewares store CHARLIE & JACK – chats with Lauren from KIS Communications about the impact the award had on her, and the changes she’s made to her beautiful Victor Harbor space over the past 12 months.

// Lauren: Congratulations on your award last year! What impact did winning have on you and your business?

Kristy: It was such an honour to win the ‘New Woman on the Block’ award last year. It was wonderful to feel so supported and a lovely acknowledgement of the hard work you pour into your business as a small business owner.

I felt that it really helped build my confidence in myself and in my business.

// Tell us about what you’ve been up to over the past 12 months.

I have done an extension to my store during the year, which is so exciting!

By expanding my store, my creativity has been able to expand too, bringing in a broader range of plants as well as other products that add beauty to the space.

// Why do you love being a member of SA Woman?

SA Woman is a fantastic way to enjoy the support of women in business in the same region! It’s so amazing to have all of those talented women & resources at your fingertips!

// If you could describe the SA Woman community in a word, what would it be?

Support.

// What was it like when you heard you’d won an Award last year?

I was completely and utterly surprised and so, so grateful! I was up against such amazing women doing amazing things in their businesses.

// What advice would you offer this year’s Award winners?

Be yourself! Don’t compare yourself to others, just do what you do best, with love and passion, and the rest will fall into place!
