Ivana began her journey in the financial services industry back in 2002, diving in at just 18 years old. Since then, she’s worn many hats, from working in a funds management company to roles in financial planning offices and with licensees. She took a detour for a couple of years, exploring the world of hospitality and diving deep into people and culture, as well as work health and safety.
Currently serving as the Practice Manager at Calder Wealth Management, Ivana is dedicated to optimising team performance, fostering a culture of excellence, and enhancing operational efficiencies. Her focus on cultivating a supportive and collaborative work environment is evident in her commitment to empowering her team to reach their full potential to provide exceptional service to clients.
Outside her professional endeavours, you’ll find Ivana soaking up the sun at the beach, working on her public speaking skills, and taking on challenges like a 1000-day no chocolate streak. She’s all about integrity and excellence, both for her team and the organisation, and she’s passionate about making a positive impact wherever she goes.

// Let’s get to know you
My career journey has been anything but traditional. After completing school, I initially pursued a path in higher education, only to realise it wasn’t the right fit for me at that time. Making the decision to leave university, albeit to my mum’s disappointment, I dove into the workforce determined to find my true calling.
Throughout my career, I consistently found myself in roles that involved organising, coordinating, and eventually leading teams. What began as a journey of self-discovery evolved into a passion for empowering and supporting others in achieving their goals. One of the pivotal experiences in my career was the opportunity to work in a popular and bustling hospitality business. As my role evolved, I found myself immersed in people and culture initiatives. Working in such a dynamic environment was an incredible experience, characterised by its high pace and diversity. I navigated interactions with individuals from various backgrounds, ages, and ethnicities serving as a liaison between the business’s needs and the well-being of its employees.
This role provided invaluable lessons in adaptability, as I learned to navigate complex situations and advocate for what was best for both the business and its people. It was a transformative experience that solidified my passion for fostering positive workplace environments and cultivating strong team dynamics.
Now, I lead a team of 18 individuals, as well as 6 offshore professionals. My primary responsibility is to cultivate an optimal work environment that maximises the potential of our team members, all while actively pursuing avenues for continuous improvement and growth. I am committed to elevating our business operations, nurturing a culture of advancement, and empowering each member of our team. This role not only facilitates personal and professional development but also serves as a driving force for ongoing organisational success.
// What makes you a Woman to Watch for 2024?
In reflecting on my accomplishments, I am grateful for the opportunities that shaped my journey. While I hesitate to boast, I recognise the value of acknowledging one’s strengths and contributions. With that in mind, I believe that my dedication to personal growth, coupled with my ability to drive positive change and inspire others, positions me as a woman to watch in 2024. My passion for creating impactful and inclusive workplaces further underscores my commitment to making a difference in the financial planning industry and beyond.
// What is your goal or intention for the year ahead? And how are you going to achieve it?
For the year ahead, my main goal is to keep nurturing our team’s growth while pushing forward with our business objectives. On top of that, I’m part of a working group focused on getting our B Corp Certification. This is a big deal for us in 2024 because it shows our commitment to being a business that cares about more than just profits. We want to make sure our decisions benefit everyone involved, from our employees to our clients to and the environment.
Getting the B Corp Certification is no easy feat. It involves a lot of assessments and meeting high standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. But we believe the perks, like standing out in the market, attracting top talent, and making a positive impact, make it all worth it.
// What would being a Woman to Watch mean to you?
Being recognised as a Woman to Watch in 2024, especially after being nominated by someone on my team, is incredibly flattering and humbling. It would signify not only personal achievement but also validation of the work, dedication, and growth I’ve invested in my career and personal development. This motivates me to keep pushing forward and supporting other women along the way. I believe all women have amazing potential. Overall, it’s an honour to be recognised and serves as a reminder of the collective strength of women in the workplace.
// What would you like to see for the future of South Australian women and girls?
First and foremost, being a good role model yourself is key to inspiring and guiding the next generation. Showing them they can set and achieve goals. Mentorship programs and spotlighting successful female role models is also key. There has been amazing development in this area in the years gone by, but we need to maintain the focus on this. Additionally, fostering supportive communities and addressing the disparity between social media expectations and reality are essential steps towards empowering women and girls to thrive.
