My name is Karyn, a Registered Nurse, a Cert IV Qualified Trainer, the founder of head2toe First Aid and most importantly a Wife and Mother.
head2toe First Aid is a passion of mine which I felt compelled to start after consistently hearing messages from patients and friends that concerned me.
Comments such as:
“Thank goodness you were there….”
“I am terrified I wouldn’t know what to do if…”
“I wish I had done that first aid course, something awful happened at work the other day…”
I saw situations where the outcome could have been different if people had known how to respond to the early signs of a medical emergency.
I saw firsthand the anxiety, stress and fear that a first aid situation produced in people. I firmly believed the right training, delivered in the right way could alleviate a lot of this anxiety and stress and replace it with a feeling of confidence and empowerment. I also knew that I could remove many of the barriers that prevented a lot of people from doing a first aid course.
And so, drawing on my 20+ years of nursing experience and my years spent as a Trainer, head2toe First Aid was born 4.5years ago, and what a ride it has been!
We are proud to deliver interactive, individualised and practical first aid and other medical training to organisations, small groups, parent/caregiver’s and children.
Because I believe in quality, I am proud to deliver my Nationally Recognised Training and Assessments on behalf of Allens Training Pty. Ltd. RTO 90909.
Whilst I started the business to be flexible around family life, it has not always felt like that is the case.
However, I love seeing the pride in my children’s eye’s when they talk about my business. I love that they have little jobs within it, and most of all I love how first aid confident they are! My Husband has been a great source of support and his belief in me has helped me to battle the negative self-talk that can creep in.
Learning to outsource early on in my business journey has been vital to my success and enjoyment.
I quickly learnt that whilst I could learn to do most things for my business, I did not enjoy it all, do it well or have the energy for it.
Focus on the aspect of your business you enjoy and find ways to outsource the areas that drain you would be my words of wisdom, as would develop systems right from the start ready for when you outsource.
A business has a tendency to eclipse life, I am learning to make sure I carve out protected family time.
This has changed and evolved as our children have grown and over the years has included camping, walking our dogs down at Glenelg, exploring the hills or just hanging out on the side of a sports field.
We are so thankful that we moved from NZ to SA for the stunning scenery but most importantly the amazing people that are welcoming and encouraging!
