Meet SA Woman Member, Jodie Evans.
Business/Organisation: Project 18 the wellbeing nook
Job Role: Founder. Director. Integrative Practitioner.
Tell us a bit about you:
I am the Founder and Director of Project 18, a wellbeing space that is focussed on delivering professional counselling, consultancy and advocacy services. I coordinate a shared, safe and welcoming space with a committment to embracing compassion and acceptance for all who visit.
I am an Integrative Practitioner, I provide 1:1 counselling to children and young people, aged between 8yo and 21yo. I have been in private practice for 5 years and before that worked in the Youth Sector for more than 20 years. I have a background in child protection and youth justice, have been an advocate and am very experienced in supporting vulnerable young people to find their voice and navigate systems. I believe all children, no matter their history, their circumstnaces or their experiences of adversity have strengths and qualities that with the right support and opportunities can empower them to be the best versions of themselves and to live a life of their making.
I am a consultant and facilitator – this is particularly focussed on supporting others (agencies, departments, sectors, services, systems) to create and facilitate safe, effective consultations processes and opportunities to obtain the voice, views and insights that young people have on the issues that impact their lives.
Tell us a bit about your business or organisation/role:
Project 18 the wellbeing nook is the new trading name for Project 18 the wellbeing collective. The change in name reflects a change in focus that occured as a result of a recent re-location.
However the premise of Project 18, which is more of a concept than it is a place, remains the same. Project 18 is an approach, a way of working, a set of values and a committment. Project 18 embraces and promotes compassion and acceptance to promote individaul and collective wellbeing.
Project 18 creates connections, opportunities for collaboration, builds community relationships with the belief in the lasting benefit that these can have, both individually and collectively. We currently have three practitioners practicing from our space in the heart of Port Adelaide offering counselling services.
