I am Penny London, HR Manager for Emali Early Learning Centre, if I am not at work my hobbies are based around food!

Being a massive food lover, I love to support as many local cafes and restaurants as possible! Some of my favourites include Lady Luck in Mt Barker, Elementary at Torrensville, and CBD restaurants Eleven, Peel Street Restaurant and Fuggazi to name a few. But the list goes on and on!

// The thing I love most about my role as Human Resource Manager is the relationships and connections I have built and continue to build. I love working within a close knit executive team that shares the same vision and goal for our organisation, doing “what is best for the children in our care”. And I love that I get to build strong relationships and connections with internal staff and external partners which I will forever treasure. I feel lucky that I have the opportunity to be my authentic self at work, and that that’s respected. And I love that I have the privilege to contribute to supporting the South Australian children and families that use our service every day.

Our CEO/Founder believed in me before I believed in myself to fulfil the role of HR Manager. He supported me in obtaining the qualifications required to excel in my role and continues to support my career growth with professional development and training.

I think Human Resources can sometimes have a stigma attached to it and I enjoy breaking that stigma by focusing primarily on employee wellbeing. I want to ensure our staff feel valued and heard, being able to voice their opinions, thoughts and ideas in a safe and meaningful space. I’m proud to be providing them with the tools and training they can use for growth.

// I take an extreme amount of pride in being an HR Manager for a South Australian owned and operated business. Adelaide is a very small place and I love that when you build connections with people they are lasting.

// The best advice I have received is “the true definition of passion is pushing through the pain”. To me, it means that for something you love, you persevere despite your fears.

The mantra I live by is “life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it”.
