Meet SA Woman Member, Megan (Meg) McFarlane.
Business/Organisation: Kin Lawyers
Job Role: Director / Principal Lawyer
Tell us a bit about you:
Meg is one half of the lady lawyer duo at Kin Lawyers with a focus on people and their relationships.
Meg likes: getting to the point of things, visiting her second home of Morocco, marvelling at the insatiable energy of her child, being in a room with cleverer/funnier/kinder people (but reminding herself she’s ok too!), and being home by 8:30pm to watch ABC crime drama (even though everything is on demand now). She will always be down for a 6pm dinner reservation (or better yet, 5pm opening!)
Meg dislikes: writing bios, not being able to read a really good book again “for the first time” after she’s finished it, her email inbox, and anything other than the British method for queuing.
Tell us a bit about your business or organisation/role:
Kin Lawyers likes: to provide pragmatic and big picture assistance for you to make a plan and sort out the “legal stuff” both personally and professionally.
We can help with:
– Future proofing relationships including marriage and de facto and inter-family financial dealings)
– Relationship separation (parenting, property and ALL the rest of it including your business)
– Estate planning (wills and all the rest, including having a proper estate and business succession plan)
– Dealing with the death of a loved one
“Full & frank” encapsulates the way we practice. We take our obligation of honesty and integrity as legal practitioners seriously. We’re avid advocates for our clients, whilst also emphasising the importance of resolution to achieve a beneficial and affordable outcome away from the courtroom. We’re about the “big picture” – considering not just legal principles, but also important considerations such as cost/benefit, personal relationships and a client’s own wellbeing in pursuit of the primary goals – resolution, security and peace of mind.
We bookend greater Adelaide with offices in Gawler and Glenelg. Our spaces are relaxed and approachable – no oversized boardroom tables or great walls of (obsolete!) serious-looking legal journals to be found here! We’re also accessible online with flexible times available.

Let’s get to know you a little more:
What has been a lesson you learnt in your career or business that has stayed with you?
You can’t do everything, but also don’t let the overwhelm of realising that prevent you from doing very much at all.
Being a “big picture” person can be a superpower, but when the big picture seems ginormous (or even infinite!), it can feel crippling.
I am constantly reminding myself that anything can be broken down into more managable chunks and that the path forward can (and most probably will) require some diversions, and a healthy dose of bush bashing off the beaten track!
What is your favourite place in South Australia to visit?
Any of the coastal or waterway based caravan parks in our beautiful state! (Mum of an only child here – instant friends for the kid, and instant relaxation for Mum!)
Why is being part of SA Woman important to you?
They say “it takes a village” – actually, it takes many, so it’s important to find yours. SA Woman is an important one for connection, support and knowledge.
What is a quote or mantra you live by?
Let the good land.
