Meet SA Woman Member, Rebecca Kelly.

Business/Organisation: The Vitality Project
Job Role: Founder & Head Coach

Tell us a bit about you:

I am know by most as Beck… I am a wife, a boy mum and a fur mum.

I have been in the fitness industry for over 15 years and I honestly couldn’t think of anything else I would rather be doing. I love helping people and the fitness industry has been the tool I have used in order to help people change their lives. During lockdown, I was working at the park and in my garage and it was an opportunity for people to be in a more relaxed environment (they could even bring their kids with them). It was then that I realised that I needed to do this for myself and for the people in my community. I opened the doors to the current studio in November 2020. I love having my own space because I can be flexible with my clients and help tailor everything to their specific needs. It gives me a connection to our community it also gives me flexibility as a mum and a wife to be able to have some balance.

I help my husband run his award-winning commercial fitout business called Total Fitouts which has grown from one office in Adelaide to now also having an office in Melbourne and is taking up more of my time these days.

I do enjoy traveling and exploring new places, reading, watching movies or occasionally binge watching something on Netflix but generally working with my clients or on my business is what I spend most of my time doing.

Tell us a bit about your business or organisation/role:
The Vitality Project is a small boutique fitness studio located in Rosewater. We specialise in Small Group and Personal Training. We also offer nurtrtional education and accountability to support to our clients.

We are the gym for people who hate the gym! We work with all types of people, of all ages. Anyone from kids and teens, to Mums with Bubs through to our over 65s. We like to focus on movement restoration, so getting people back into taking care of their health and fitness. While we have many different clients, my niche is women aged between 25-55 who need support focusing on themselves – a little self-care goes a long way.

We want to inspire people to live a happier, healthier more abundant life full of vitality through purposeful movement, wholefood nutrition, and mindset coaching! We uphold health over aesthetics. We focus our attention on individuals and tailor their programs to their specific needs through purposeful support in a flexible environment that is centered around connection and community where we are open and honest in all that we do and adaptive to all situations and environments.

We are coaches, not cheerleaders! We focus on the people in front of us and tailor all sessions to our client’s own needs and abilities. We work in small groups to ensure that our clients don’t feel like a number, but feel like they are valued and important. We do not take a one size fits all approach and we do not deliver cookie-cutter approach to programming and support.

In 2024 we are launching The Recovery Project within the current studio as an additional way for us to support the wellbeing of our community. We have created a welcoming, calming space for individuals to focus on improving stress management, reducing inflammation and improving their overall wellness. We are doing this through the use of compression therapy, infrared sauna and cold water immersion. This space will provide a private yet calming space for anyone in our community to immerse themselves in.

Let’s get to know you a little more:

What has been a lesson you learnt in your career or business that has stayed with you?
That focusing on my own headspace and mental health produces a direct outcome in my business. When I am struggling my business is struggling. When I am thriving so is my business. I recently discovered this correlation and have now prioritised my headspace in order to show up as a good leader for my clients and my staff.

I am also transparent about this with my clients often coaching them through similar situations for them to be their best. I think this authenticity sets me apart from other fitness trainers.

What is your favourite place in South Australia to visit?
Yorke Peninsula

What is a quote or mantra you live by?
If you want something you will find a way. If you don’t you will find an excuse.
